States of Play: Contemporary Australian Women in Regional Arts Practice


3rd annual exhibition in celebration of International Women’s Day.

More than 20 artists from 10 different regions across Australia were invited to participate in this year’s Women in the Arts exhibition. In celebration of International Women’s Day, the show featured contemporary practitioners from Darwin to Hobart and represented artist-run-initiatives from both regional and urban centres.

In its 3rd year, Women in the Arts 2013 featured a cross-venue visual arts exhibition; hands-on arts and craft demonstrations and a forum for local and visiting artists focussed on ‘Networking Regional Arts’.

The States of Play exhibition featured painting, drawing, print-making, sculpture and installations at Canopy Artspace; while an exhibition of digital media and photographic works were on display at c1907 Contemporary Artspace.

WIA 2013 Art Bag Project:

Free 100 Limited Edition ‘Art Bags’ Give Away promoting exhibiting WIA13 artists, their ARIs and the regions they live and work in.
