WOMEN IN THE ARTS

Venue: c1907 Contemporary Artspace, Cairns
Exhibition in celebration of the 100th Anniversary of International Women’s Day. With a focus on diversity, both established and emerging women artists from the Cairns region were invited to submit works for this inaugural event. The exhibition showcased the wide range of media and techniques currently being explored within contemporary arts practice. This year’s show included works on paper, sculpture, photography, painting, fibre craft, print-making as well as textile, ceramic and encaustic works.

Artist Portrait Project – In collaboration with local photographer, Rebecca Claire Edwards, historical ‘snap shots’ recording the participating artists in this inaugural exhibition event, were on display with the works.
